Tour Durban, Capetown (South Africa)

From 29 August to 9 September, Introdans is touring through South Africa with the show WONDERLAND, which has been specially created for this tour. The programme will be performed in theatres in Durban and Cape Town. During the same period, Introdans Interaction teachers will also be Durban where the dance project Cardiac Output, previously performed at various venues in the Netherlands, is now receiving a South African edition. Local professional dancers will be rehearsing a show together with dancers who have a mental handicap, under the leadership of Adriaan Luteijn and an Introdans dance teacher.

WONDERLAND
In the show WONDERLAND the Introdans dancers perform a programme put together specially for this tour. It features the choreography Het Debat (The Debate) by Introdans founder and choreographer Ton Wiggers and three works by the American choreographer Robert Battle: Ella, Takademe and Three. What’s more, Introdans is adding two more works to the programme: the wild formation dance Malasangre by the Spanish choreographer Cayenato Soto and the ‘delightful birthday cake’ Black Cake by the Dutch master choreographer Hans van Manen.

> Visit WONDERLAND at JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience in Elisabeth Sneddon Theatre, Durban on 1 and 2 September at 7.30pm, on 2 September there is also a performance at 2.30pm.
> Visit WONDERLAND in Baxter Theatre, Capetown on 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 September at 8pm, on 9 September there is also a performance at 3pm.

Cardiac Output
Introdans has initiated many projects in the Netherlands in which professional dancers perform together with special target groups. The show Cardiac Output is one example of this: professional dancers performed together with dancers with a mental handicap to create a moving dance work. Choreographer Adriaan Luteijn has now been asked to realise this same project in South Africa, too. In an intensive rehearsal process, four local professional dancers and four selected dancers with a mental handicap will be working together on a show under the leadership of Adriaan Luteijn and dance teacher Nina Funk. The South African edition is being produced at the invitation of Lliane Loots, choreographer and artistic director of Flatfoot Dance Company in Durban.
