The performance Giselle is a collaboration between Toneelgroep Oostpool and Introdans. Together they are looking for forty young people (between 15 and 19) to create a professional play, full of theater and dance, along with actress Juul Vrijdag and dancer Karin Lambrechtse. The auditions will take place at the end of September and beginning of October. Young people can apply for the following disciplines: acting, dancing, singing, music and design. Giselle can be seen in May 2013 in Huis Oostpool Arnhem after a long period of rehearsals under the direction of Timothy de Gilde (Toneelgroep Oostpool) and choreography by Adriaan Luteijn (Introdans).
About Giselle
Giselle is an ordinary girl who loves to dance. She doesn’t just dance with her boyfriend from the village, she also dances with Albrecht, a good-looking stranger who seems unreachable to her. She does this in spite of her mother’s warnings. When Giselle’s boyfriend discovers the identity of the man with whom she danced until she dropped – and that he is engaged – she dies of sadness.
The performance
Timothy de Gilde and Adriaan Luteijn asked Marcel Osterop to write new material based on this ballet classic for forty young people and two renowned performers: actress Juul Vrijdag and dancer Karin Lambrechtse. The young people playfully search for the true, the perfect, that one all encompassing passion – in short, everything that is most important when you are around fifteen.
When?
Auditions will be held for the various disciplines at the end of September and beginning of October. Rehearsals will be held on 25 Saturdays or Wednesday nights in Arnhem starting Saturday October 27th. The performances will take place during the May 2013 school holidays in Huis Oostpool.
